Chapter 6 notes – Fact Sheets, Advisories and Media Kits

For those of you that don’t have an over abundance of free time in your life, I have taken the liberty to provide four tips from each chapter from Dennis  Wilcox’s book, Public Relations Writing and Media Techniques

Chapter 6

1. This chapter had some meaty stuff to it.  I recommend going and reading it for yourself.  I will provide you with three definitions to help you get started though.  Facts sheets are a list of facts in outline or bullet format.  They often accompany a news release or a media kit.

2.Media kits are press kits that are a collection of various news materials.  Generally prepared for large events and also for the launching of new products. This can include press releases and fact sheets,  and can be used to introduce products and to inform the media of events.

3.Media Advisories are a means of letting editors know about events that are upcoming and they that they might be interested in covering.
